When people step out onto mission with Jesus, there will always be stories to tell and insights to share. Just as those who first walked with Jesus passed on their experiences to others, we believe that anything we gain on our journey with Christ belongs to everyone. So eat up and drink deep, but whatever you recieve here must be shared with others. We promise it will grow and deepen in the sharing.

Had a kids day, by taking some kids from Bronx Fellowship to Manhattan church of Christ. It was a creative theme. "God Created" and to emphasis that God created everything and in turn uses us to create, we did music, art, cooking, writing, etc. We then took a short walk to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (how many churches can do that) to look at different art that shows the way people depicted God's creation. Than we were able to walk to the Great Lawn of Central Park and look at some of God's creation in the park. It was really wonderful.
The kids, were exhausting, but i love and learn from their conversations and comments.
I took some kids on the subway and they got really excited when they got to see Yankee Statium on the way down.
One child told me, he would buy bronx ice cream in manhattan but not manhattan or brooklyn ice cream. I asked what the difference was. "They are all the same ice cream, but manhattan and brooklyn people have more money, so it's more...

I had a suprise visit from a friend that was my translator in Kenya over 3 years ago.
He is working for the summer in Long Island with a kids camp.
He is one of the most humble, Jesus loving and living, people I know.

It was so wonderful to have him look at the pictures of street kids that are still covering my walls, and be able to tell me where they are, how they are doing, etc. It's amazing how connected I still feel to that place I visited so long ago.

Let me share some of his vision and thoughts during our...

Jesus and His Gospel

These days, a lot of Christian leaders from many different backgrounds are discussing Christian discipleship. That is, there is a renewal of studying the concept of the Kingdom of God, of reflecting on the character of Christ, and of taking initiatives to facilitate these themes in contemporary society. An atmosphere of struggle in Christianity in the West seems to be producing somewhat of a "theological revival." A friend from Sacramento best sums all this up, when he asks the question...

sat in union square with a dear sister in Christ. we ate organic juice and vegetarian pizza's from the farmers market. we sat and chatted, prayed, watched the eclectic styles of new yorkers, and listened to jazz music being played at the water fountain nearby. Times like this i'm so thankful for the city.

I still am trying to figure out this love/hate relationship with this city. I love it because it is diverse, made of God's people, unique, evolving, peculiar, full of culture, full of life and full of emotion. But these are the very things that make me, at times, grit my teeth, feel overwhelmed, and want to run away. :)

God grant me clairity to know if you all calling me away from this city, or if you are calling me to stay and learn to love this city more and more.

On Being New Humans

I continue to learn from my African friends.

this past Sunday we were reading Acts 4.We talked about the boldness of the apostles and their inability to deny Jesus because of what they had seen and heard. As we shared how we had seen God work in undeniable ways.
My African brother shared, "I was imprisoned by the Rebel army, and taken to a prison to be killed. No one left that prison alive. So i prayed aloud. The prisoners thought I was crazy, but i knew the only way i would live is through God's help. They killed people around me, they had me on the ground and shot bullets around my body, and between my legs. They tortured me, they beat me, and then I saw a familiar face.
